Foundation for Nature Conservation in Suriname

Copi reserve

Copi nature reserve is a nature area with a surface area of 180 kmĀ². This area is located near the Casawinica creek in the district Para.

It was founded in 1986 to preserve and retain the dry clay savannas (Welgelegen type) and the wet white sand savannas (Zanderij type). Furthermore Casawinica creek is known for its abundance of fish, otters and caiman marsh-nesting sites. The famous Cordon path, a path of historical value, is part of this park.
